Artist statement: The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was valiantly flown in daring daylight campaigns against German key targets. Losses were high. On a single day in 1943, 291 bombers were sent in and only 214 survived the combat. There are currently only 9 which remain in the air. This photo was taken in the nose turret of the Nine-O-Nine, operated by the Collings Foundation. Tragically, this plane crashed in 2019, killing seven people.

Artist statement: The saguaro cactus plant can thrive even during long periods of drought and can live for over 200 years. They grow quite slowly; it can take them fifty years just to reach three feet tall. When the saguaro finally dies, the inner ribs last the longest, as they have the density of a hardwood. The Climate Crisis is threatening the ecosystem of these venerable plants. I used a negative inversion on the image to represent just how vulnerable they would be to the changes we are making to our world.

Artist statement: We often take our Earth for granted. Its rich history spans billions of years. Our parents, grandparents, and countless generations past enjoyed its blessings. It can seem ludicrous that something so large and seemingly indestructible could be damaged by human actions. However, it's become increasingly clear that we are pushing it over the edge. Either we learn how to treasure our beloved planet, or we may be forced to leave its overheated surface behind and seek what shelter we can elsewhere.

Artist statement: Mother Nature always finds a way to restore balance to her systems. Once it becomes clear that human beings are incapable of reining in their global destruction on their own, she has a solution. Simply allow the heat to rise to a level which becomes untenable for humans to remain. That then allows the remainder of the plants and animals to find a new equilibrium, one free of additional human pollution and waste. Then, after a few thousand years, life can renew and flourish again.

Artist statement: I came to Worcester to attend college; I have since lived in the Worcester area for nearly all of my adult life. The inscription over the Worcester County Courthouse, "Obedience to Law is Liberty", has always bothered me immensely. It's taken me a number of versions, but I finally found how to best portray my emotions about what I find to be an enormous incongruity. This piece is the result.

Artist statement: I took a photography tour of lighthouses off the coast of New England and New York. It was a very different experience taking pictures from a boat than on dry land, but I love the depth that Black and White photos give you of the sea and the clouds in the sky.

Artist statement: On a trip to Italy, I was amazed at the traffic on the canal. To me, it looked just like a game of chicken. I don't know how Venetians operating boats know who has the right of way, but it is exciting to see them zipping about in front of a centuries-old Cathedral.

MYSTERIOUS BEAUTY OF STONES (PAST PRESENT FUTURE WEAPONS OF WAR)
Subhash Shorey

Artist statement: Since my childhood I have always been impressed by the mysterious beauty and texture of stones. They have interesting and charming. They are Self-textured by natural processing and easily available on this beautiful earth, their texture and beauty cannot be replaced by any other form. I collected near about five quintal stones and my brushes loaded with colors which were dancing on paper and canvas began dancing on stones. Stones are silent like a statue of God and Buddha.
