Artist statement: This figure painting is of Anju Pillai, my dear friend. My intention was to capture her personality and form wrapped in a colorful and vibrant sari. Lost and found edges add to the softness of the background. Her gaze is intent and intelligent. It also reflects her humor and kindness.
Specific medium: Oil
Streets of Venice
Matt Reynolds
$300.00

Selected for catalog
Submission Url:
Artist statement: My attempt at capturing the uniqueness of Venice, Italy's back alley streets at night. The many day trippers never get to see this side of this popular city. This small intersection which would normally be filled with people was empty but just down the other street there was plenty of action which created some dramatic light on the scene. Goal was for the viewer to wonder what was happening down the street where the light is coming from. 30 second exposure.
Specific medium: Photography B&W
Loneliness
Matt Reynolds

Selected for catalog
Submission Url:
Artist statement: Loneliness is an unpleasant emotional response to perceived isolation. A shaft of sunlight shining through openings in a canyon formed this very human like shape as well as highlighted the descriptive colors within the walls. Taken in Arizona.

Fields at Tufts
Joseph Rice
$265.00

Submission Url:
Artist statement: The fields on this side of the road were not complex, allowing the cloudy sky to be the focus of the painting. This was painted plein-air on a summer day. My subject matter is traditional, usually the places I know in my home area of central Massachusetts, and my summer location in mid-coast Maine. I don't paint as often as I should, so the opportunity to paint plein air is a treat.
Specific medium: Acrylic on canvas

Nancy Rich
$165.00

Artist statement: This photograph was taken in Bristol Blake State Reservation in Norfolk County, MA. It was a cloudy day and the reflection of the sky in the water created a beautifully moody scene in hues of blue, green, gray, and white.

Lily Pads and Tree Reflections

Artist statement: This photograph was taken at Borderland State Park in North Easton, MA. The lily pads had turned shades of red and orange, and their colors popped against the blue sky reflected in the water.

$225.00

Artist statement: Photographs of flowing water create images that are usually a complete surprise to me. Perhaps Picasso would see the genesis of a painting or a drawing in such an image. Photography can create absolute fun!

Steven Rosenfeld
$150.00

Selected for catalog
Artist statement: I took the picture 4 years ago. It has an even deeper emotional effect now. I am touched to see the youngster making physical contact with the stone. I wonder what he knew about Dr. King at that time. He certainly had a solemn and peaceful approach to the memorial.

$300.00

Artist statement: I continue to look at this image in disbelief. Moving water is a favorite subject of mine. Light reflected from moving water creates complex, ever-shifting patterns. It creates "automatic" abstractions that can be fascinating to see. Capturing them with a photograph at one instant in time enables us to enjoy that natural gift again and again.

Artist statement: Having spent many years teaching students a broad range of art techniques, including art history, this time of life is my opportunity to put all my art explorations into my personal works. Having been greatly interested in art therapy as well, 2020 was certainly the time to create works that brought me joy and harmony during a time of difficulty around the world. Art truly is for everyone.

In the Spotlight
In the Spotlight
Christopher Sanders
$425.00

Artist statement: Seeing as how 2020 has been the year of the quarantine I found myself with extra time I could devote to the easel. Being stuck at home afforded me the ability to work on a bunch of projects I have been meaning to get to. What drew me to this image was the strong juxtaposition of light against dark. The way the figure is emerging from the darkness into the bright spotlight creates a striking drama. It's a fun challenge as a painter to try and recreate with pigment
